Aluminum is the industry standard in seamless gutters and is used in almost all Coast to Coast gutter installations. Aluminum is consistent and reliable, and very inexpensive. All other gutter materials are gauged against aluminum, and the thickness and grade can vary between different manufacturers. Why would aluminum be the most common material used for gutters? What makes the aluminum we use hold up to this standard in the industry?
The aluminum Coast to Coast Gutters uses has a thickness of .027 and .032. .032 is considered a standard for commercial applications and is thicker than the residential application standard of .027. We offer commercial grade thicknesses for both residential and commercial applications to make sure no matter what the project is, the gutters we install are going to last as long as possible. The thickness of our 6 inch wide gutters as well as our 7 inch can be the heavier .032 gauge. Downspouts have a thickness of .019. Downspouts can be lighter than the rest of the guttering system as they do not support weight, they direct the water flowing through the outlet of the gutters that do support the weight of the rain water being shedded.
As for seamless gutters, there are two qualities of the metal – primary and secondary. Coast to Coast only uses primary aluminum for our gutter installations. These two types differ in the way the metal is processed. Secondary aluminum is typically made using metal that has been recycled. This metal keeps virtually the same properties as primary, but primary aluminum is more consistent throughout and more uniform. Secondary aluminum can be produced by different methods and is not necessarily less desirable than primary. Customers sometimes prefer primary, and we prefer the reliance and stability of primary. Given proper maintenance, aluminum guttering can last from 25 to 35 years regardless of primary or secondary aluminum.
Our aluminum gutters are painted white as our standard gutter. Painted gutters look better and more consistent than plain metal. Aluminum is usually not a uniform color and can be much less aesthetically pleasing to a homeowner without paint. Baked onto the metal, the paint finish will resist normal weathering, peeling, chipping, and flaking much better than if the paint was just sprayed on. Our seamless gutters are available in a variety of colors to best suit your application. We can match almost all home exteriors and keep a range of colors in stock.
